Dear Members of Local Council 21,

Four weeks ago, the company launched their Union busting campaign, meant to disrupt your AFA representation. Management terminated the employment of two elected and appointed local representatives and strong unionists.

Rest assured, despite this inexplicable and unprecedented Union-busting tactic, your representation has not changed. We elect our Union representation and the company doesn’t have the right or ability to influence that.

I‘m honored to have been elected and to serve you, the Members of Council 21. I will not allow this attack to distract me from fulfilling the responsibilities you elected me to carry out as your Local Council President. I will continue to fully represent you as outlined in the AFA Constitution and Bylaws. Our Local Council work continues to be my top priority, as it has been since I started this term. The overwhelming support of confidence in the work that we are doing in is what keeps myself and all of our locally-elected officers and generous volunteers charging forward.

Local Union business continues, without interruption, despite the company’s attempt to intimidate and attack your right to Union representation, as federally provided for in the Railway Labor Act. AFA’s relationship with local management is on the same path as I reported earlier this year: working together to advocate for you, the Members of Council 21.

We look forward to seeing and hearing from you at our upcoming Local Council Meeting next week on March 10th. If you have not already done so, I encourage you to register to attend via Zoom.

Thank you for remaining active and engaged and, most importantly, for proudly wearing your AFA Union pin as a part of your uniform every time you put it on as we weather this storm together.

Stronger Together, Better Together.

In Solidarity,

Jill Collins
Local Council President
AFA-CWA Local Council 21
